  I do not believe people should cut down bamboo trees in China.

  My reason is that when you cut down bamboo trees in China you endanger panda bears. Bamboo trees are a panda bear’s main food. 100 panda bears are in captivity and only 1600 are in the wild. If they cut down bamboo trees, the panda bears could be extinct.

  I think if they cut down bamboo trees they should plant more.

  Yes, they grow fast- up to 7 inches a day. They are strong. They can hold a lot of weight. According to www.Midatlanticbamboo.com, “tensile strength of plated bamboo cables is as strong as or stronger than a steel cable of the same size.”

  Bamboo can also be grown in other places, just about anywhere, even places as cold as Iowa. Builders can grow and cut down the Bamboo there instead of China.

  I believe people should cut down bamboo in other places besides China. Bamboo is strong and grows fast, and it can grow just about anywhere. It’s a panda bear’s main food. When you cut bamboo in China, you endanger Panda bears. These reasons are why I believe people should not cut down bamboo trees in China.

This is Herb.

Herb is the Shrub Club's mascot. He represents...well, nature! Why is he the mascot? 1. It fits the club's name. 2. He is nature.  3. It's awesome!! About number 1 and 2. The Founding Cousins thought of the club name by attaching the name to something in nature. For number 3, 'I failed to see how you failed to see that it's awesome (from Big Hero 6)!  I even have a Shrub Club wallet, and you might want to make your own Shrub Club things, so I'll show you how to draw Herb. First, you draw a cloud shape for his body and leaves. Second, you draw two brown twigs for his arms and hands. Third, sketch two circles, and connect them to the sides of his body for glasses. And finally, draw his pupils and his big smile. Now that's happy! Another variation is to add on a cap that shows the recycling sign on it!
 Your assignment for this week is to write a persuasive essay on if you think people should continue to cut down bamboo trees because they grow really fast. Why or why not? I'd love to see what you guys think!
